Twenty Two Years and Counting!

22 Sept 17
20:15 hrs

Yes, it was 22 years ago that my Lobster and I tied the knot. Twenty-two years of bliss? Nope. How about 22 years of hard work!

Shift work, kids, elderly parents, schooling, moving across the country, new jobs, etc. In all, its nothing that any other couple would go through but you have to work at it.

If you, Dear Reader,  was ever wondering as to why I refer to my Better Half as my Lobster you would have to go back to the Friends sitcom where Phoebe said "lobster's take only one mate in their life". I sincerely doubt that this is factual but it is a cute thought nonetheless.

Back again from Out in the Weeds!

13 Sep 17
20:00 hrs

     Well, wasn't that fun!

Last Thursday my Friend From Over the Hump and I grabbed the second ferry out of Duke Point bound for Tsawassenn and headed to the rendezvous at the Sasquatch Inn in Harrison Mills. We had to be there by a set time or we would miss the caravan. Last year the route through the Lower Mainland was so circuitous that there was no way I would be able to find my way to base camp. This year would be different. I was bound and determined to memorize the way in. As Thursday was still a working day it was best that we utilized the VHF radios for road safety.

At Base Camp a number of people were already there and as usual it was like an old fashioned home coming with good friends that could be relatives including that weird Uncle Simon.

The entire weekend was filled with little sleep, lots of laughs and deep conversations. We did have some success. Vocalizations and knock returns.  No sightings mind you. At least none that I know of.

Our return trip was not through Tsawassenn as a friend needed a ride home. We dropped him off in West Van and continued through to Horseshoe Bay. Again, the trip was uneventful except for one small detail. When you have just come from Out in the Weeds it is prudent to remove your custom made six inch Tanto hunting knife before going into a public washroom. People tend to get nervous.

So, the Sr. Loin Fruit is back in the Hub City for his second year in university and the Jr. Couch Monkey is busy with his senior year. Actually his list includes the following : high school, homework, the Environment Club, the Improv team,  karate up to three times a week, learning g to drive, Dungeons & Dragons, seeing his girlfriend and making time to still hang out with the BOM. This list does not include the chires we ask of him. A full plate to say the least.

And yet he remains pretty cheerful. I don't know how he does it because I know when I finally get some me time and someone asks a question or diverts me in another direction I tend to get a bit pissed.   I know I shouldn't be but I am.

So, Dear Readers what do you make of the Global Response to the "missile tests" coming out of the DPRK? Are sanctions going to be enough to make them change their tune? I highly doubt it. North Korea is already globally isolated. The latest round of sanctions will punish North Korea and those supplying North Korea. The thing is Krazy Kim has a lock on what his people get to know of the outside world and with nearly 70% of his GDP invested in the military he needs to have exports to purchase food stuffs for his people. In order to keep them from rebelling he has them focused on the bullshit belief that North Korea will defeat the You-alls.  However, it won't just be the You-alls.  When the steel rain comes it will have to be from a global coalition and this coalition had better get its act together pretty damn soon. The biggest problem about hitting the DPRK is preventing the tens of thousands of artillery pieces amassed  along the north side of the demarcation line are all aimed at Seoul and it would take a month of concentrated air attacks to take them all out. In that time Seoul would be reduced to rubble.

A single nation will not be able to remove the threat of the DPRK's nuclear missile program and the actions of Krazy Kim. It must be a concerted effort by a coalition to end his insane regime. Now, I am not advocating a forceful change of governmental reform in North Korea. After all thete are some successful nations under communist rule. Not many but some. And in those nations, social communism does work. North Korea, on the other hand, has been ruled by a family of despots that have been getting progressively more psychotic with each successive generation. The current leader enjoys eliminating his opponents with a 40mm anti-aircraft gun.

It is time for the world to stand up and take this SOB out. The problem is you are not supposed to directly target a world leader. Oh, you can carry out a clandestine  operation to poison his home made Canus Pho bowl but you are not supposed to put a 2000 lb laser guided munition through his bedroom window because it wouldn't be considered to be cricket. But, if the world does succeed in removing Krazy Kim, does prevent the ten mile snipers from flattening Seoul in the first opening salvo and removes the nuclear threat the next goal should be show the Democratic People's Republic of  Korea that there is a living world beyond the realm of their leadership.

That being said, the Coalition must not falter, as they did in Iraq, and allow the serpent to rise from the ashes or ursupers to slip in. If this happens the Coalition must be prepared to hammer the nail down again.

What do you think? Too much for a Saturday?

We have been invited to sup at Elric the Stalwart's residence this evening. They have a new foreign exchange student and either want to introduce her to other Canadians. We'll bring along a bored game (sic) to pass the time.

That's about all Kidlettes.  The new hospital is opening in two weeks. The new bridge is supposed to be done then too. I haven't been passed the bridge in a couple weeks so it might be worth a look see.

Are you Ready?

05 Sep 17
05:15 hrs

Well, I hope you are ready Dear Readers. Ready for the crazy traffic. Ready for the parade of head down self absorbed semi concious children that will be walking along side your streets. Ready for local law enforcement that will be watching the scoop zones.

Here at the Wayward Inn we are ready. We just completed a mad dash whirlwind trip to see the Sages. Both of our Loin Fruits accompanied us and I think the Sages really enjoyed having them visit. Like any trip to visit one's parents it will have moments of joy, sadness and stress. Ours was no exception.

Well, our Jr. Couch Monkey is getting back in the school groove. Classes, studying, karate, the BOM and a new girlfriend will all be competing for his attention. Good luck son. Most of us adults have been there and survived. I'm sure you will do quite well. Our Sr. Loin Fruit is back at university for the second year of his program. Last year, was a very steep learning curve for him and I sincerely hope that some of it sunk in so this year will be smoother.

My Lobster is on the cusp of moving to a new position and she is very happy to  be moving. There were issues in the organization that were national in scope which would cause just about anyone to despair the very thought of coming to work. So, why work in a place where you are not happy?

I have just about finished packing the Ram for my annual pilgrimage Out in the Weeds. This year my Friend From Over the Hump will be joining me. He has listened to my prattling and now his Lobster has granted him permission to tag along with me. It should be fun.

21:45 hrs

     So that's about it.
The new hospital is open in a couple of weeks. Yeah right. The new road and bridge may be in use. Doubt it. But I don't care. I'm heading for the Weeds.
