Signs!

26 Sep 19
15:15 hrs

If you haven't noticed Dear Readers there is a general federal election that is fast approaching. Now, I don't really care what party you are aligned with and I also really don't care who you vote for but what I do care about it the continued apathy and complacency of the general population when it comes to voting.

FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, WAKE THE HELL UP YOU BLOODY MORONS!!

If you, Dear Readers, know of anyone who can legally vote but does not exercise their right without a valid excuse yoi have my permission to drive them 100km out into the woods and leave them there.

Some people like to advertise who they are voting for. Candidate signs and political party signs are cropping up like mushrooms. Our ultra-rightwing neighbour; you remember the one with the Anti-United Nations flag, the Canadian flag and the American flag, had a very large People's Party of Canada sign mounted on his front lawn. But just to make sure that everyone in the neighbourhood is aware of his support for Maxime Bernier's national socialists our Whackadoo mounted solar lights on the sign to illuminate his political choice. Now, being that we are all Canadian we are all very tolerant of each others beliefs and choices. Well...most of us are.

Yesterday was our anniversary. My Lobster and I are celebrating 24 years of wedded bliss (?). If you believe that you probably think the moon is made of cheese. No union of two people from two completely different walks of life is going to be smooth and we have certainly had our rocky moments. If someone tells you that their marriage is perfect they're lying to you.

In the Hugh-ess, the move impeach the Tangerine Tyrant has leapt forward as new wrong doings has emerged from the darkness. In my opinion this may well be the final nail in his coffin and its about bloody time. I think the thing that really pisses me off about that squatting toad is the fact that there are scores of highly educated individuals orbiting around him like flies on a shit pile. And  if these circle flies are so smart why don't they pull their heads out of his ass and hang him out to dry? If you have the answer let me know.

One last tidbit. Some twit has pointed out that an alcoholic hangover could, in fact, be an illness. Say what? Does this mean that all the times that I went out and got completely shit-faced with my crew mates, survived the drive home, crashed on the couch while still in uniform, woke up five hours later to do my ablutions and then go back to work with a head like a ten pound Smartie - I could have simply taken a sick day because of my "illness" ? Sounds like more Millennial soft hearted touchy feely bullshit to me. If you're stupid enough to go out and get hammered out of position the night before you have to be at the top of you game it's just to freaking bad sweetheart. Suck it up and do your job. Suffer and learn from your mistake like us old timers did.

We're Back!

20 Sep 19
O4:30 hrs

Hello Dear Readers! You may have noticed that the missing two blog posts have been corrected and added for your enjoyment.

My trek Out in the Weeds was a minor success. A fellow adventurer, who had taught me to carve spoons last year, had screwed up on the dates and was on site at base camp a week early. That was okay as Kilgore and Lance from the PBR STREETGANG has made the same mistake. On the Saturday before my arrival  the Master Spoon Carver and his friend were out paddling the canoe leaving her poddlings to play on the beach. At the same time Kilgore and Lance were walking on a decommissioned road that wound parallel to and 100 feet above the beach. As the kids played on the shore they spotted a large hairy hominid standing between two trees on the slope below the upper road. The boy had enough time to run 60 feet to retrieve a pair of binoculars. Both kids observed the creature for about a minute. They described it as being tall but lean,  muscular but not barrel chested. It supported itself on the steep slope but holding on to the two trees. At one point the poddlings noticed a tree, a couple hundred feet or so to the right, began to shake violently afterwich a large rock sailed out of the forest and into the lake. When they looked back to see the creature between the trees it was gone. On our arrival to base camp the Big Swede and I heard the tale from the master carver and interviewed the poddlings. A further investigation of the scene proved that the story was legit. My portion of the expedition was not so exciting. On a good note the LDR 's both worked.

Our Sr. Couch Monkey has now been moved upstairs into the bonus room. For all the work that went into renovating the space we should charge him for for rent. Placing him upstairs has moved a large amount of stuff into the hallways and living spaces. But, Never Fear.... my Lobster is in the process of sorting, tossing or selling the accumulated excess and that's a good thing. Hell, we culled six bags of DVDs that will go to her workplace garage sale.

Have you been following the shit show south of the 49th Parallel? Talk about bling Faith. And you know the Tangerine Tyrant is right. If he shot a man at high noon in the middle Times Square he would get away with it. Looking at the way in which the Hugh-ess is blindly plodding towards the Abyss of Public Apathy from which it will take years to crawl out of. We all know that the Hugh-ess used to be the country that stood up for human rights and fair play both domestically and abroad. I can't understand how an elected official in their current administration can back up this orange buffoon and still live with themselves.

When I came home from being Out in the Weeds I was surprised by the fact that we have a new rental cat. Were calling him Boris. A twelve year old fixed male gentle soul who has gotten along great with out two temperamental felines. His back story was that his owner suddenly didn't want him. So, we are now fostering him. I like the two we have and really don't want a third.

We have guests coming over. Sensei and his Lobster are coming for games, snacks, drinks and laughs. An evening of stress relief.

Speaking of stress...the Jr. Loin Fruit is having issues with his roomies as to cleaning responsibilities. I guess they were never trained to clean up after themselves so he's asking for a meeting with them to discuss the issue. My Better Half says that if they leave it messy he should charge them each $20 a week to clean up the kitchen.

Operation Oma-nator is in full swing. As the Sr. Couch Monkey is now upstairs my Better Half has been on the hunt for gently used furniture pieces that get mom can use. A night table, a small bureau, a bed - of sorts. With a smaller bed and some creative placement of the pieces we may even get a small love seat in the room. One thing she will have is her own flat screen just so I won't have to endure the Wheel of Fortune, Dancing with the Stars, Days of Our Lives, the Bachelor, etc. I'm hoping my Legion membership comes in soon.

The Move South

I must start by apologizing to you Dear Readers as I was working on a series of blogs and it got stuck. Normally I do my blogging on my handheld and on  occasion when I go to post my latest diatribe it gets stuck in a position where I cannot save, delete, edit or post from my handheld. The only way to correct the issue is from my desktop and with all the hubbub the issue hasn't been corrected yet. Please bear with me.

We have taken the Jr. Loin Fruit south to a place of Higher Education in Capital City. The trip was not without its issues. Normally we are able to get past Hub City in an hour or so from the Wayward Inn. On this trip the journey took 2 1/2 hours as a semi was tipped over just north of Hub City causing us to detour around the accident site. Then another two hours were required for us to get to the campsite with the Mobile Wayward Inn. Once there we were set up with a campfire and libations.

On Thursday we sussed out the university and met with my Cuz'n for supper. Friday was spent sight seeing with my Lobster as the Jr. Couch Monkey had an orientation day and then supper with the Fish Brothers. Saturday was spent hanging at the campsite and on Sunday we laboured to get the our son into his residence. We said goodbye to our child and returned to the campsite. The following day we pulled up stakes and headed home. The journey took all of 3 hours.

It's Blog Time

I've been working on the Jobsite for the past while. It's pretty much a hum drum job monitoring workers and maintaining security on site. Occasionally fence lines have to be opened for machinery access but not without a security person in place for obvious reasons. Today, I had to allow dump trucks in through the fence line while safely directing traffic. One individual slowed as he went to thank me and said I was a natural at marshalling the vehicles. I should be. I marshalled aircraft on a military apron for twenty years.

My Better Half and I, with help from the Couch Monkeys, re-arranged the bonus room in the Wayward Inn so the walls could painted. My Lobster selected Heavy Cream for the colour which is far brighter than the Contractot's Sandbox that adorned walls. Today the switch plate covers and the furniture will be put back into place to make the room useable again. This has also given us the opportunity to toss out crap that is no longer wanted or needed. Decluttering as it were.

All of this work would have to be done sooner or later and now that it has been completed the room is now ready to receive a more permanent occupant. In the event that the Oma-nator moves from the Nation's Capital to the Wayward Inn on the Left Coast she would take over the Sr. Loin Fruit's room as it is on the main floor and has the cheater ensuite. We don't want to move him into the other two available living spaces so by reconfiguring the bonus room it now closely resembles a loft apartment. We know that the Oma-nator is planning to visit late in the fall but it is uncertain that if the move will be permanent.

Chef Blaine has acquired a new tool for food preparation. A new dual fuel smoker. He has an older electric model but it takes too much time to even make beef jerky and with his desire to try making smoked brisket, hams and even a whole smoked turkey it was necessary to purchase a more dependable unit with a larger capacity.

Journeys

08 Sep 19
07:15 hrs

It's that time of year again, Dear Readers. Time for my annual pilgrimage Out in the Weeds. This year there had been some confusion with the actual dates of the outing and as a result some members of the PBR STREETGANG, namely Kilgore and Lance, will miss the big show. That's okay because they live nearby and visit the research site quite often. But, I'll still miss seeing them on this trip

Instead of taking my usual route to avoid the Pacific Pearl I'm driving smack dab through the middle to have breakfast with my Niece and her Beau. This time I'll have to get a couple of happy snaps.

Do you people watch or listen? It's not spying or voyeurism. If you happen to find yourself in a public place - currently I am trapped on a Left Coast transportation vessel - simply sit back enjoy your beverage and while mindlessly glancing through your paper listen to the conversations around you. Listen to the various languages spoken, to the infective words, the patterns, the force or submission and to the bravado and the  bullshit. I remember as a kid being on a Greyhound trip with the Sages to grab a flight from the Pacific Pearl to Tequila Land. There were two dudes across the aisle and one dude was telling the other dude that the reason he was on the bus was because his favourite car had broke. Of course, he could have taken the sports car or the 4x4 or the luxury sedan or the limo or had his uncle fly him in the helicopter but "dude, why should I show off when there are so many dudes that dont have anything?"

"So, it's like you're travelling incognito so I dont feel bad?"

     "Like a spy, dude!"

"That's so righteous of you dude!"

     "You're welcome, dude."

It will be a while before I will be able to post anything as I will be Out in the Weeds. So, take care of each other and if you can't have fun stay home.

Dang Gum

15:00 hrs

     Dear Readers,
I have two posts that I had started and for some unknown reason they got stuck in the ether-world and were not posted. Please bear with me as I try to release them from their bonds.

In the meantime, things are quieter here at the Wayward Inn as my Lobster and I have set the Jr. Loin Fruit free. He is now in Capital City gaining a higher education. Good luck.

Today, I fired up the new smoke pit and finished off a pork shoulder that had been brined and then cold cured for several weeks. The results are not too bad. I'll be trying out more recipes as time goes by. This first attempt will be a large part of my rations when I head Out to the Weeds next week.
