Boos not Oohs!

28 Oct 19
06:45 hrs

Just to bring you up to speed on a few things I see that there is a call to have a Silver Alert system put in place. This would work much like the Amber Alert program but would be used for society's senior citizens. Sounds like a great idea. A large number of states in the Hugh-ess gave the program but only two provinces in the Great White North. The Queens's Cowboys in this province stated that the public may get overwhelmed with the number of alerts issued but proponents say the alert should be localized as Seniors usually don't travel very fast or very far.

Halloween will soon be here. The Wayward Inn has been decorated. A number of years ago we had some visiting students and our Jr. Loin Fruit had dressed up as an Egyptian princess. He wanted to use the costume this year but it had been borrowed from a friend so he ordered his own to wear at campus costume party. We will get a couple of hundred Kidlettes coming to our door.

I just caught a bit on the news feed how the Tangerine Tyrant attended a World Series game. During the 7th Inning Stretch the camera displayed his image on the big jumbo-tron. When the crowd saw the image the started to boo and chant "lock him up". The Tangerine Tyrant left the stadium before the start of the 8th inning. Some say it was for security reasons but I say it was because he is so thin skinned that he cannot take any negativity especially negativity that he cannot control. I love it.

At 08:00 hrs I'll phone to see how Mr. Teddy Buttnuggets is doing. I had to take him to the vet as he hadn't eaten in a couple of days. I hope he'll be okay.

We got Teddy back last night and today I had to take him back for a follow up. He's been released. They almost had to medicate me after I saw the bill. It's back to Mac n Cheese until the bill is paid.

The Uber Right Wing neighbour, the one with the Anti-United Nations flag, has his house up for sale. Only $689,000 and it's all yours. Nice kitchen, immaculate man cave and 30+ palm trees. You might want to remove the American flag. We wondered why he's moving and my Better Half thinks it's because the Left Coast voted socialist and he's a fascist so hell probably move to Cowtown or to the Big Perogy or anywhere east of the Big Rocks that is not coloured Red or Orange.

On the worksite I was talking to a coworker about authors that we liked. I mentioned that I enjoyed reading Tom Clancy and how a number of scenarios in his books have been rather foreshadowing. For example: an aircraft is piloted into the Hugh-ess Capital building and then, in real life, a number of planes had flown into the World Trade Center. When I mentioned this oddity the coworker states, the World Trade Center was an inside job and the guys that everyone thought were flying the planes weren't.  It was someone else."

Now, this is supposedly an educated person so how in the hell do you answer him? Simply put, you don't! Trust me when I say that there is no amount of evidence that you could present that would change the mind of those conspiracy nut jobs. It's best just to walk away.

More Stuff!

20 Oct 19
08:45 hrs

Yesterday my Better Half and I departed the Wayward Inn by 07:15 hrs, hit Timmies and drove to Hub City. She had picked out a piece of furniture for the Oma-nator's room and we went down to pick it up. The weather would have been an issue but I brought a couple of shelter-halfs to wrap the unit it. Luckily it also fit completely in the box and under the deck of the Ram. The entire trip only took three hours end to end as we cruised at about a buck 15 most of the way. In the afternoon we took in Zombieland: Double Tap. It's an enjoyable flic but you should really see the first one in order to appreciate it.

When we were on our way into Hub City - we approach it from the north - we saw work continuing on a number of apartment blocks. They are five or six floors in height which is great. Unfortunately, those same buildings could not be built in the Valley because some moron has decided that no building can be taller than four floors for aesthetic reasons.

Ooh, it might block someone's view.

Well, land is no longer being created and if you can't build out you will have to build up. On top of that there are places where buildings taller than four floors can be constructed. Maybe it's time to change some of the dimwitted regulators.

Two topics for the day. Number one - today is L'il Sis's birthday. We called her at her home in Cowtown and wished her the best of the day. Number two - the federal election is over and I hope you voted.

I have never seen a country so regionally divided as we are right now. The Libs now have a minority government and will remain in power only if they have the support of the New Dems. However, the Prairies went entirely blue voting for the Cons who actually ended up with the largest popular vote. The Cons are driven by big business - oil - and the majority of those living in Big Sky country care more about getting their product to market than how their product has effect on the global climate. I'm sure that their local climate does not show enough evidence to demonstrate that change is indeed taking place. I think the other big issue was the Feds had forced a carbon tax on the entire country. A tax that was hated mostly in the left of the country. Personally, I don't really understand it as i don't see where the tax monies are going other than into general revenues. The Bloc Heads have gained ground in la Belle Province capturing 30+ seats. This is another federal party that has no business existing simply because it only represents and only runs candidates in that province and their entire platform is to ultimately remove the province from Confederation. Are you old enough to remember when this party actually held the position of the Loyal Opposition? That was just crazy!

Yes, the Left of the country is most certainly feeling alienated again. The cries, if not demands, for the unification of the four western provinces and their separation from the Great White North is growing louder and louder. The Libs in the Nation's Capital had better pay attention  because if it wasn't for Area Code 905 the ruling party would be Blue.

I'm sure that you have had it up to your eyeballs with the political crap going on South of the 49th Parallel but the latest is the explanation and clarification of tweets and texts between two career Hugh-Ess diplomats in Ukraine. Big shocker the Tangerine Tyrant was asking if not demanding the Ukraine Prez publically state that his country would investigate claims of corruption by the Tyrant's political rival in 2016. Stay tuned as its going to get even bloodier.

A good time was had by all...

15 Oct 19
05:00 hrs

Well, the Doubke Whiskey Smoked turkey was a hit. The best turkey I've ever had and even my Lobster agrees with me. Of course there are tons of leftovers and that's the problem with holiday meals, especially in North America. Gluttony is a problem.

Well, this is a real piss off. Yesterday I had typed out a lot of stuff on this blog site and due to my error plus a change to the blog site itself nothing was saved. Just bloody perfect. So, let's see if I can recap.

My Aunt in the Frozen Centre of the Great White North dodged the massive power outage that left many thousands of users to rely on candles. That snow is now melting raising the river levels to near flood stage. The only bonus is that it is too cold for mosquitoes to hatch.

     Did you vote?
My Lobster and I hit the advance polls on Saturday and the Couch Monkeys went on Sunday. According to the latest stats the advance polls have seen an increase of 21% over the last federal election. The race is tight between the top two parties with the balance of power being split amongst the rest. I'm thinking that we are looking at a minority government which may result in more work actually being accomplished than with a majority government.

Am I boring you? Well, too bad. Those who make up our government are people who work for you. If they are not doing what is best for you fire them by voting them out. As much as I hate the Hugh-ess political system their voting public is much more attuned to their voting rights and they vote for everything. The Prez,
Congress, the Senate, judges, sheriffs, mayors, district attorneys, councillors. All of these positions and more are decided by the public and believe me if they are not doing a good job they'll be out of office at the next election. Canadians are more laid back for some reason when it comes to voting and yet they love too bitch about the Monkeys on the Hill. In a recent federal election nearly half the eligible voters did not exercise their right to do so. This number really appalls me. And you know that these clowns scream the most when taxes or levies go up. I'm tired of trying to cajole people to vote. Hey, in the Land Down-Under all eligible voters are on a list and if they don't cast a ballot without due cause they are fined. Sounds like a plan to me! But, I would step it up a notch. In my books the second time that a registered eligible voter does not exercise their right that idiot should be forced to live in a country that does not have free and fair elections. I'm sure that you can imagine some of them.

It has been over a year since I was employed in the Animal Control position. Do I miss it? I miss helping the people. I dont miss being on call every second weekend that's for sure. My former workmate is now on my third replacement. Oh, well.

We recieved a flyer in the mail for a new nine lot development that is about a ten minute drive from the Wayward Inn. Now, I know that the amount of available land to build on, especially in my part of the Valley, is rapidly shrinking and is one of the reasons why the land speculators are making out like bandits. Any idea what the lot prices are? $350,000. Just the lot. No building. Crazy. You can buy half of Butt-F**k Prairieville for that price.

It's Turkey Time!

07 Oct 19
06:15 hrs

Thanksgiving Day will soon be here and this year Chef Blaine will be producing a Double Whiskey smoked turkey as the main course. He's hoping that it turns out okay for those who will be partaking in the bird. My Lobster does not really care for turkey all that much. Our Jr. Loin Fruit will be up from Capital City. He's a veggie as is the Onion - who is supposed to be joining us - so I know they will not be dining on the bird. The full menu is a bit of a mystery. As far as I know Chef Blaine and Sous Irene have not even discussed the side dishes. Maybe some Martian testicles or something similar.

08 Oct 19
06:00 hrs

Yesterday I picked up more smoke chips and kosher salt for the brine. The bird will be thawed, washed, injected and brined before being smoked. As the bird is frozen this will be a four day process starting tomorrow. Today, I have to check on the propane and the butter. Last night my Lobster and I waxed the furniture she had painted for the Oma-nator's room. I'll try to fit the frame around the adjustable bed today.

Have you recieved your voting registration in the mail? As I have mentioned in the past please take a look at the issue and on election day exercise your right as a citizen to freely elect your leaders.

Speaking of leaders and leadership - or the lack thereof  - it would appear that the future of The Great White North is going to be another crap shoot. On the one hand there is our current leader who has lied (as they all do) to the country, ignored the laws of the land for the benefit of major corporations while giving away this country's tax dollars for every Third World party with their hand out and increased our National Debt. On the other hand the other leader vying for control is cut from the same science denying white bread cloth as the last guy. There are others in the mix but for the most part they will not gain a majority but will only (hopefully) temper the actions of the government.

In the Hugh-ess, the Tangerine Tyrant's leadership skills - of which there us none - are directed towards the betterment of his Empire. Lies, falsehoods, bullying and subjugation of all within his orbit. What is truly amazing is that his satellites are so afraid of either his wrath or that of their constituents or the fear of losing power that they will not accept the evidence of his transgressions. How can they live with themselves?

Back in the Valley, the construction of more rabbit Warren housing continues. These are mostly townhouses. There have been a couple of new apartment blocks that have gone up but the rental prices are extremely expensive. It would seem that for the young adults the only options are to remain under their parents roof or band together and rent a multiple bedroom unit.

There is a new coffee house opening on the main drag. It's in the old Thai House restaurant. We had gone to the restaurant several times and really enjoyed it but the owner suddenly closed the doors and walked away. That was at least a dozen years ago. It has sat empty until now so it's good to see empty buildings being repurposed.
