SPOCK IS DEAD!

12:15 hrs.
27 Feb 15

It is sad to report that Leonard Nimoy has passed away. He was 83 years young. I'm sure that Sheldon Cooper will be crushed. I know I am.

There is lots of things in the wind. For all you politicos, the new season of House of Cards is out on Netflix. I know I'm looking forward to it. AND speaking of political intrigue... the official Russian opposition leader (talk about a dead end job) was shot four times in the chest and killed near the Kremlin prior to a anti-Putin demonstration. The shooter made a successful getaway in a white sedan. Out here on The Left Coast the actions of the provincial government has been likened to that of a drunken sailor in that it has no direction and is spending every dime it has.

Back in the 'Peg, a man found not criminally responsible for cutting the head off a fellow Greyhound bus passenger is being allowed to have unsupervised outings. I guess after 6 1/2 years in the Selkirk Mental Heath Hospital Mr. Vince Li is now cured of his demons. Somehow I'm not convinced and I don't think the parents of his victim, Tim Mclean, are convinved either.

Farther east, where the land is still frozen shut 😂, a judge in Quebec has refused to hear the testimony of a woman wearing a hijab. It may only be a scarf to the judge but this devout muslim it is a sign of her faith. Bull shit. Would the judge (being that was in Quebec is probably Catholic), remove her crucifix if she was asked? I think not! Is a judge not supposed to be unbiased? Quebec has always been a "my way or else" kinda province. I hate what they get away with. Language laws, etc. And now the same sort of crap is rearing its ugly head in Richmond with the Chinese business signs where there is no English-language on them at all. I would think that it would be difficult for any first responders coming to an alert. Think about it.

For those of you, dear readers, who are still stuck in the grips of winter please understand that here at The WAYWARD INN the task of lawn care has begun. I have now raked the lawns and spread the lawn fertilizer. Yes, I understand your contempt and accept your thought that it is these very words that should be spread to fertilize my lawns. Life's rough all over and depending on where you reside some of us have to shovel it and some of us get  to spread it.

I have a Cuz'n in Cow Town. It's her Birthday. No, I didn't send a card. In fact I wouldn't have known it was her Birthday if it wasn't for the Facebook notice. That branch of the family wants for nothing and I have nothing that they would want. Cynical?

Operation Jericho is nearly completed. Some final touch up by Riley the Painter Girl and we'll be good to go. Except the bill. Does anyone know where I can sell blood here in the VALLEY?

Here we go...

22:40 hrs.
20 Feb 15

Today, for any of you history buffs, is Black Friday. It was on this day in 1959 that the Diefenbaker lead Parliament cancelled the CF-105 Avro Arrow program. All five flying aircraft, all aircraft in production, all tooling and equipment was to be immediately scrapped.  And it was. Very few portions of the program exists today. A landing gear and a nose  cone. It should be noted that prior to building the Arrow the RCAF had conducted a fact finding mission whereby they had viewed the F-101 being built by MacDonald Douglas. The aircraft was rejected stating "at it would never meet Canada's air defence requirements". After  the cancellation of the Arrow the RCAF took possession of more than sixty F-101's. The Voodoos served Canada well but they were not the Arrow that Canadians had designed and built.

Here at THE WAYWARD INN my BETTER HALF and I spent some time cleaning windows, inside and out. Mind you the insides look better than outsides. I'll have to do them again.

The renovations to THE WAYWARD INN will soon be completed. The doors may be mounted tomorrow and the electrician is supposedly showing up as well. We brought the living room furniture back in so now we have a second place to relax away from Loin Fruit #1. Next Tuesday should be lots of fun...Report Card Day.

River City

A Quick Jaunt Away

13:25 hrs.
15 Feb 15

Well, its a fine day out on the Left Coast.  Loin Fruit #1 decided to walk into the City to meet some friends. It's only six or seven klicks. Good on ya. Loin Fruit #2 has his Sunday rituals too which leaves time for my BETTER HALF and I to enjoy some time to ourselves. So, we went north to River City. My Cuz'n was working but we found a great coffee spot called Nesbitt's on Shoppers Row. Nice seating, great homemade cookies and a wide selection of coffees and hand selected teas. The background tunes are of a jazz variety, Miles Davis and John Coltane.

A Special Post from Operation Jericho

Operation Jericho Pt. 4

11:47 hrs.
13 Feb 15

     Happy Friday the Thirteenth.
And I am pooched. I was called in to work last night. Four hours eatching over an impaired individual who was housed in the hospital's secure room. I returned to THE WAYWARD INN at about 02:00 hrs. Then crashed out in the bonus room so my BETTER HALF could have a good night's sleep.

The work is still progressing on Operation Jericho. Mike the Builder and Lana the Ceiling Artist are continuing the final touches. As mentioned, the electrician has to come back for a couple of minor things. The floor is 95% completed. The hardware for the new doors has to be installed and the doors need to be put into place. In all, we could not be happier. Phase Three has begun with the research for a murphy bed for the front room.

It was my BETTER HALF's birthday a couple of days ago. I must say that I should have planned out more of a celebration. I guess I'll have to go all out next year. Maybe a cruise. Sans Couch Monkeys.

Operation Jericho Pt.3

10:25 hrs.
08 Feb 15

Its the end of the first week of reconstruction at THE WAYWARD INN. The ceiling has been prepped for the finisher who, I am told, likes to wear spandex on the job. The electrician will be vack next week as well to re-install the wall switches in the locations selected. My LOBSTER picked up some additional flooring but its of a different color. It will be placed around the fireplace akin to a hearth. As for the workers, we cannot be any happier. Very professional and attentive to our requirements.

The other day we, my BETTER HALF along with myself and Loin Fruit #2, went to the Mad Chef Cafe. Its a lot of seafood Asian Fusion stuff. Great for me. Not too good for everyone else. Not my problem. The food was excellent and the Junior Couch Monkey brought home some leftover miso soup, which I devoured the next day.

There will be another fundraiser for the Isfeld "Send the Kidz to Italy" campaign. On Valentines Day, the students will be bagging groceries at Superstore. Let's hope they raise enough for at least a meal while on the road. It has been a huge undertaking and the kids will get a lot out of it. I just hope they appreciate it and don't cause an international incident.

Operation Jericho Pt. 2

15:16 hrs.
05 Feb 15

Mike and Matt from Muchalat Construction. Working hard at the WAYWARD INN. Walls are down. New doorway has been cut out allowing light to flood into the room. The electrician  popped in and will finish off next week. Going well but I'm looking to start selling blood  to pay for it all.

Operation Jericho Pt.1

14:35 hrs.
03 Feb 15

@ 08:30 hrs the Contractor showed up to the WAYWARD INN with the Lead Hand for the crew. After a quick walk through it determined that the work would proceed.
And it did.

A protective barrier was laid down on the floors before the doors, sheet rock and studs started to come down. By the end of the day. The walls will he gone. Leaving wires tied and dangling.

More tomorrow.
