Planes, Trains and Autobuses!

     Hello Dear Readers!
With the first cup of java already down range I figured it's time for an update on the happenings.

Two days ago I set out on an excursion to assist the Sages. Island Link bus from The Valley to the ferry in Hub City then over to the Western Metropolis as a foot passenger. Two hours later I was on mass transit for a 90 minutes three leg two transfer journey to the Easter Seals House where I caught up with the Sages. Within 15 minutes we loaded into their vehicle, where I was surprisingly relegated to the shotgun position for a five hour ride to the Homestead. All told, it was an 11 hour travel day for yours truly.

For the Sages, they are extremely happy to be home. Now, their task will be to adjust to new routines. But, most importantly, everyone is doing well and getting stronger. After such a major operation it will be one day at a time. Baby Steps to say the least. I would like to add that from all indications the medical staff at VGH and the staff at Easter Seals House were extremely warm and professional. I thank you.

I have a short list of tasks to accomplish at the Homestead. Fix the gate, repair this, adjust that and attend to whatever has been a nagging issue. Not to worry that's what I am here to do. And I won't be here long. Before the week's end I'll be off to Cow Town to see L'il Sis for a couple of sunrises before launching back to The Valley.

     Odd jobs.
That's what I'm doing. And I'm glad to be of service to the Sages. Just little things. Hang a mirror. Change light bulbs. Take out the garbage. Stock the beer. All easily done.

Last night Chef Blaine made supper. A veggie pilaf and butter poached Left Coast cod with asparagus. Wearing a MP3 headset he rocked the kitchen to some RUSH. Prepping veggies. Readying seasonings. It didn't take long before the meal was ready. It tasted great and well appreciated.

Today, I have to confirm my flight to see L'il Sis. I think I'll continue with the max relaxed attire. The Liberal Hobo look. Why not. My Lobster said I should consider this to be a mini-vacation so I might as dress like it. I wish the Monkeys in the Island Capital would get it through their thick heads that I am not at their Beck & Call.
"Hello? Are you available for duty at...?"
"No, you poop tossing low brow simian!  I'm on holidays just as I had informed you two weeks ago!"

The Oma + 1 will be at the Wayward Inn when I get home. Makes for interesting times.

Time to Blog a Catch-up

Our Jr. Loin Fruit is a week into his European Tour and, as far as we can tell, is enjoying every minute of it. We haven't been contacted by any authority figures about misdeeds so that's a bonus. Today his is supposed to meet members of my Lobster's family for a luncheon. It will be interesting to say the least.

My Better Half's Travelling Relatives will be coming for a late lunch today. We haven't seen them for six months or more. They are on their way to River City to pack up their belongings for the move to the Island Capital. Hopefully we will get down there to see them. I have missed them and today will an enjoyable visit. Chef Blaine and Sous Irene will be making a big fruit salad, a German Apple Pancake and savoury omelettes. Looking forward to it.

One of the Sages has been undergoing some serious medical issues and I will be travelling to assist. The medical procedures have been successful and the prognosis is good. That's all I can say about that.

The Valley is waiting for spring to arrive. It has snuck up on us several times only to run away again. I know my Better Half wants to get into a full swing gardening mode but there is no sense planting stuff if it's going to freeze. I'm pretty sure the last of it is over and I'll soon be mowing the lawn again.

We went to one of the Granola Islands for an adventure. While visiting the Land of Fruits, Nuts and Artists we saw the dry goods at the General Store were at least 75% above market value. How about $3.99 for a regular size tin of baked beans? At the farmers market there were two stalls selling local goods. One with a local Organic wine and the other with breads including a Jerusalem Bagel that was bigger than a baby's head. One interesting find was the All Natural Cemetery where you can scatter the ashes of your love ones. Please don't stray from the path! So, Granola!

If I hadn't mentioned it I have a new book from Chef Anthony Bourdain.  If you don't know who he is I'm truly sorry but Bourdain is an in-your-face outspoken no holds barred self righteous consumer of all that is good. To say thst I enjoy his writing is an understatement.

Been waiting Long?

08 Mar 17

Obviously none of you Dear Readers missed me. Nary a comment from the peanut gallery.

"Hey Intrepid Writer! Where's your latest post?"

     Nothing! Bupkus!

Oh well. I've been busy too.

In just a couple of days our Jr. Loin Fruit will be off to Deutschland for an school exchange. We recieved the address of where he will be staying so I looked it up on Google Earth. The shocking thing was the number of solar panels mounted on the houses. One house had forty panels. Outrageous!

I know that you have been waiting Dear Reader - and I say Reader in the singular as I am sure there is only one person reading this - but I just haven't been up to the task of late. Sorry.

The white crap is falling all around as I write these words. My Lobster asked me to dig out the selection of Christmas CD's. Nothing doing.

I have been informed that the Wayward Inn will be receiving guests. My Better Half's Travelling Relatives have sold their domicile in River City and have fled screaming to a more cultured climate in the Capital City. I figured it would be just a matter of time and I'm surprised that they lasted this long. Chef Blaine will certainly miss the Foodie Banter.

Speaking of things writ large and out of control the new hospital  is supposed to be up and running on 01 Oct 2017. Good luck with that.

I was able to hammer put a couple of pages. I think I'll be taking my laptop to Salmon Arm. Maybe not. Logistically it would be a pain. I will take the Big Binder to scribble my rough drafts in. I have to get a move on with the new project. I know I have asked some of you to contribute. I haven't received any submissions mind you so if you need a reminder of what or how then drop me a line and I'll walk you through it.

The plow trucks have just gone by the Wayward Inn.  The white shit has stopped falling for now. This weather is so weird as I should be mowing the lawn by now.
