Yes, summer is just about over. The days are shrinking the nights are growing. The Couch Monkeys will soon be in the doldrums as they plod their way, head down or eyeing their electronic devices, to their place of education. Some peoples Loin Fruits actually spent their summer engaged in things other than having their fingers glued to their keyboards. I know ours did. They actually spent the better part of the summer gainfully employed, earning some monies to offset the monstrous costs of post secondary school. Most of our Jr. Couch Monkey's friends (The Band of Miscreants) did not work at a formal job, where experience gained is worth almost double any salary earned. But, one did and when I asked him several weeks ago he was rather pissed that he had to work. Welcome to the real world, Chuckles!

Last night the Wayward Inn played host to a dear friend, The Flt. Nurse and her hubby, The Handyman. I've known her since living in the country's navel. But, my Lobster worked with her here and that's when our friendship really started. They own a rental residence at the northern tip of The Rock and made a flying road trip out from the Big Perogie to complete some necessary maintenance.
With guests arriving soon, Chef Blaine fired up the Flame Pit for chicken and sausage while Sous Irene got creative with pasta and veggies. The rum flowed, the whiskey was sampled and the beer bound it all together.
This morning The Nurse and The Handyman went shopping in the Valley before heading back north. They'll be returning to the Wayward Inn in a couple of days before continuing on home. Busy busy.
Speaking of Road Trips...do you have any favourite tunes to accompany your time behind the wheel? Rock? Jazz? Does the type of music change with the type of motorway? Hard and edgy for city traffic and Mozart sonatas for the sweeping freeways? You would think that you would want to reverse those two just so the Mozart would have a calming effect during gridlock.
My Lobster and I, plus the Loin Fruits, will be road tripping to see the Sages. It's been quite some time since they have all been there. In fact they haven't seen the new digs yet. There will be someone missing though. The Sages had to send their four legged companion over the Rainbow Bridge. It was time to go as she had stopped eating and drinking. After this trip we have to get the Sr. Loin Fruit off to university and then I will be heading Out in the Weeds. Can't wait.
