Things can change in a micro-second and if you are not ready for it you will either miss an opportunity or miss a meeting or miss a person. Be prepared is more than just a Boy Scout mantra. It should be on everyone's mind. It's like driving a car and not being prepared to apply the brake in traffic. You have to be prepared.
Do you have a first aid kit in your house?
Let's back that up. There is no sense in having a first aid kit if you aren't trained to use it. So, are you currently qualified or have you ever been qualified to perform first aid (at any level) on another human being?
Do you have an emergency kit, such as an earthquake kit, at you residence? It really shouldn't be in your house. It should be in a container that will protect the contents from the elements and stored outside of the main structure. Have you inspected it lately? Is it prepared?
The point is there is a lot that a person can do to prepare for all sorts of things but you cannot be ready for everything. Life can and will throw you a shitty curve ball just when least expect it. All you gotta do is ride it out and hope for the best.

I wish I could find out what is being built next to the Timmies at Home Despot on Ryan Rd. Rumour has it that it could be a bank or another restaurant. With a Mickey D's and a couple of sushi joints across the road I can't see another fast food joint going in. And there is a bank over there as well. But with the new hospital going up I'm sure it will be something beneficial to the medical staff or at least it should be. A pharmacy would be the smart bet and having one more is unlikely to dilute the marketplace too much. There are only about a dozen in the Valley as it is. If you know what it is drop me a line.
My Lobster is away from the Wayward Inn at the moment. We were given the unfortunate news that her father passed away on Monday. His health had been exponentially deteriorating ever since I met him and the physical pain had increased as his health decrease. All who knew him knows that his is in a far better place. You can rest now Opa.
That leaves me and the two Loin Fruits to maintain the Wayward Inn to the best of our ability. In my Better Half's absence we have been given offers of food and assistance. Thank you everyone. It is much appreciated. And I will call if the Earth blows up but for now I am sure that I can handle things.

Well Folks, it was an enjoyable evening. As a family unit we we supposed to attend the Snowed in Comedy Tour but as my Lobster is away that left us a spare ticket. The senior Couch Monkey asked I'd his significant other could attend and before I could say as emphatic "No" a text from arrived the Nation's Capital suggesting I ask a former coworker to accompany us. I would have invited Elric the Stalwart but I could reach him. Then at the last minute Loin Fruit #1 decides he doesn't want to go either. Fine. But, before the show we decided to try the Spice Hut in Comox. It's East Indian food if you don't know. Curries, masalas and the like. Good food. Have it as spicy as you want it. Which leads me to the next point. If you never eaten in an East Indian restaurant and you don't know the spice profiles is it not wise to go slow? This is where the delineation between age and wisdom is placed. An older wiser person (no names metioned) said "I'll have my dish at medium heat because I would like to taste the dish." Next, the younger brash person (no names no pack drill) orders his dish, "I like it hot. I can handle it!"

Hell, there was nothing stopping him but fear and common sense. Of which he had neither. Let's just say the numbness in his lips and mouth diminished after he got home. And, I do not want to know what will be like coming out the other end. It's great to see a "man up" situation crash and burn.
As for the comedy show...I really needed the laughs. I only wish my Better Half could have been there as she needs some laughs to right about now.
