It's all about the Mocking!

     That's it poke the bear!
It doesn't seem what it is but everything that I do of late has become an extreme sense of pleasure to the other residents of the Wayward Inn. My mannerisms, my gait and everything in between is now the source of their aping. Fine. It is all being mentally recorded according to subject matter and the distributer. Warnings have been issued and punative measures will be carried out when it least expected. I can wait. Remember the story of the old bull and the young bull? Well, guess which one I am?

A couple of days ago my eldest Sage turned 75 years young. I wasn't able to attend the Soiree but Li'l Sis cruised in from Cow Town. Some aspects went well. She assisted my Other Sis in shopping for a wedding dress. For them it was a welcomed break from reality.

My Better Half and I heard something quite funny the other day. Some say "he's a few sandwiches short of a picnic" or "she's a couple of bricks shy of a load".  There's a new one for those of us living on the Left Coast..."he's a couple cars short of a ferry load".

Chef Blaine made some comfort food this evening. He calls it a "Poor Man's Borscht". Take mashed potatoes. Add sautéed bacon and onions. Cube some beets and simmer till soft in water that has been seasoned with vinegar. Place a large spoonful of the potato mixture into a bowl then ladle the beets c/w the sauce over it. Add a healthy dollop of sour cream on top. My Lobster says that beets taste like the earth they are grown in. Maybe so. But, it's those natural minerals that keep people healthy.

I've been wondering if anyone has noticed if the Great Island BBQ is still operating? The first couple of times I attended the food was damn fine. The last time it was a bit off the mark. As we all know running a restaurant is tough at the best of times. Being successful at it is even more challenging. Most businesses fail in the first year and don't start making monies until after the second year. As much as everyone loves a good BBQ the Valley may not be the right place for his menu. But the last thing we need is another quasi Chinese food burger bistro joint that serves reconstituted pre-frozen locally produced delicacies or the ever present global chain restaurants with their pre-packaged flavorless morsels. My Better Half is chomping at the bit to sit down at her favorite restaurant in the Nation's Capital when next she goes there. Inwardly, I cringe at the thought as the cost has spiraled exponentially since the first time we had been there. The price is probably now double for the same items. It is really good and as a treat I can't deny her the pleasure (nor would I try 😆). A local fave is Mars on Main in Dodge City. Their brunch menu is great especially the different kinds of Eggs Bennies. I have had the West Coast Benny twice. I should have only had it once and then learned from that experience.  It's a regular Benny served on a salmon patty. That is to say, it's a hash brown patty with smoked salmon in it. Twice it's been mushy and you would be better off looking for salmon in the salt chuck as opposed to finding it in the patty. I would have preferred to simply have the smoked salmon substituted for ham or bacon on a traditional English muffin. Some standards just shouldn't be messed with.

I suppose that my Lobster and I are a wee bit behind the times but we only just recently discovered Game of Thrones.  Back stabbing Medeival politics complete with graphic violence and plenty of wenching to arouse even the near dead. Like any series, it takes sometime to figure out all the characters, their familial connections and whether or not the breasts will be bared in the next scene. YES, THEY ARE! 😊

     Are your taxes done?

     Our are finally done.
