Okay Kidlettes! Only two more days to go before the really Really Big Show. For those who can remember such comedy greats as Abbott and Costello or The Honeymooners may also old enough to recall the mysogenistic duo of Punch & Judy. A pair of slapstick puppets that whacked the shit out of each other. Funny for kids. Boring for adults. On Monday night on most of the American networks will be the first of three Presidential Debates. I know...what the hell has that got to do with Canada? I tell you what. Don't pay attention and before you know it there will be either a wall on our door step or The Donald will be moving troops north just because he can. Remember these four facts:
1) Most US military bases have more personnel than we have in our entire military.
2) Roughly 10% our military are paper pushers at National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa.
C) Remember Stalingrad. We'll win if they attack in the winter.
It has been great having our First Born visiting from Hub City. I think he'll fair better than most but he is sure getting a rude awakening to the truth of life outside the family home. Trust in yourself. Everyone else is debatable. And yes, people will take your stuff if you leave it out. It may be other students or the cleaners or a transient. But, it is someone. That is for certain. Personally, I would put up some wireless micro cameras and catch the guilty person red handed. There is nothing worse than a Thief because a person who will steal from his mates cannot be trusted not sell them out for some shiny bauble. I remember a guy from an infantry regiment who was caught stealing from his platoon members. They stripped him of his clothes. Stood him against a pole with his hands behind his back. His wrists were bound and since he had sticky fingers the boys poured a bottle of pancake syrup over him. He was left overnight for the ants and bugs to get him. The next morning the fire hall hosed him off. He never stole again and he remained untrusted by his fellow members for quite some time later. Nuff said.

We are going to have brunch at the Hen and Hog. It's a diner type restaurant across from Fluid on Cliffe Ave. Nice place. The first time there were eight of the Queen's Cowboys having breakfast there. Food has to be good because they don't eat crap. My Better Half will route the Senior Loin Fruit back to Hub City afterwards. Maybe I can get some transcription typing done on my new tome while they're gone. I'm still looking for an editor and I'm pretty sure the my Lobster's Travelling Relatives are gun shy about aiding me. They have enough on their plate at the moment anyways. Too bad actually as it is going to be good. A real eye opener for all those who have not had the pleasure of being in the military and a trip down memory lane for those who have.
The plans for rebuilding the Lorne Hotel in Comox has fallen through. It was supposed to be a restaurant on the ground floor offices/shops on the next and condos on the upper three. The problem with that is the height restriction of four floors only. Which is really dumb anyways. The rule exists to prevent buildings from blocking the vista views of the ocean and the Beauforts. First of all there is nothing behind the building site but a golf course so nobody's view would be blocked and secondly the Town of Comox is running out of usable land leaving option A) doze derelict buildings or B) encroach on ALR properties or C) build upwards... you stupid wankers!
That brings up another point. These lame ass antiquated rules or procedures that have been in place from another century and that no longer apply to the current situation. "Oh it has be done this way because that's the way we've done it since my great grandfather did it and if was good enough for him it's good enough for us!" Uh sure, but we no longer dry and burn sturgeon as cordwood or place thieves in a public pillory. Mind you, that last idea may reduce some crimes and as a law abiding citizen I'm up for bringing it back. How about you?
