Waddya want now!

There is one less person occupying the Wayward Inn. That's right. The Senior Couch Monkey is now enrolled and residing at VIU in Hub City. To say that his residence is small is an understatement. It's so small that the mice are hunchbacked and he has to go outside to change his mind. Seriously, there are jail cells bigger than his room. Don't ask how I know this.

Yes, it has been a whirlwind of activity all over the place. The Sages and Li'l Sis were out to the Flatlands for a Cuzn's nuptials and then back home for another wedding of a close family friend. Second time for both of them but who gives a crap. They're happy and that's all that matters. Yours truly was supposed to attend that function but I was scheduled for my annual pilgrimage to some place Out in the Weeds.

Ah yes. Four days of staying up all night and howling at the moon. Well, there is more to it than that. Suffice to say I survived and more importantly I had the opportunity to take the Ram off-road in 4x4. Now, I don't know how many of you Dear Readers have been 4x4 climbing up a washed out logging road in the dark but there are four things that must happen for a safe return.

     1) If possible, find a place to safely turn around. Even if you have to negotiate a ten-point turn, driving down a hill is far superior to backing down the hill.

     2) Driving down the hill is scarier than going up because the road will look different and because no one gets hurt falling up a hill.

     C) BE PREPARED. Things will go wrong faster going downhill than uphill.

My Better Half's Travelling Relatives are back in River City. They paid us a visit here at the Wayward Inn and what a fine table Chef Blaine and Sous Irene set before them. However,  something was amiss. My Lobster picked up on it right away.

     "You're moving!"

Yup. Sometime in the future these two world travellers will be heading down Island to the Capital. Been fun knowing ya. Actually, the timing of their departure south is perfect because in a couple of years Loin Fruit #2 may be looking for accommodations when he attends UVIC. Oh we'll still pay for it, but hopefully it won't be as much as regular residence. And it will help them with their mortgage too. Mind you, he may not be comfortable with that arrangement and I wouldn't want to force him into an uncomfortable situation.

The new hospital on Lerwick has just had an important addition built on to the structure. The all important helicopter pad has been built onto the third floor of the south east corner. Take a look. It's clearly visible with its large metal catch net ringing the perimeter of the platform. Another project is getting underway in the Valley. The Thrifty Foods on 6th Street is moving into the old Safeway on Cliffe Ave. That leaves the Thrifty's old store empty. Rumour has it that the Edible Island organic foods may be moving down the street to fill the gap. The new road across the Tsolum River is also moving along. As this will affect the traffic flow in the area, I suggest you take a look if you are driving on Headquarters Road.

    WINTER IS COMING JOHN SNOW!

If I can find the time I would like you get out onto Comox Lake to do some fishing with friend from Over the Hump. Comox Lake has had a slot limit and a bait ban imposed on it because some twit thinks there has been too many fish taken from the lake. The lack of fish caught may be due to the fact that few people fish the lake or the fact they are using the wrong bait. There are some very are fish in Comox Lake and they are not targeted very often. My plan is to hit the lake using heavy rods and deep six planers to get the lures down into the catch zone.

I am sure Dear Readers that you have seen the news about the dangers of phentynal. A very dangerous opiod that is killing people by the hundreds. It would be killing even more people if a powerful antidote wasn't administered by the EMT staff. Some emergency services personnel have stated that they have reversed the OD effects on the same individual several times in the same week.   Interesting how my tax dollars, and yours,  are being spent to save the lives of those who clearly have a death wish while diabetics, for instance, have to pay for their medication.

     BULLSHIT!

I advocate that those addict who  receive the OD Wonder Drug will get it once and once only. Then they must attend a recovery program. Failure to do so demonstrates that you are not willing to help yourself. Hey, if you don't want to help yourself and become a participant in Society then I cannot see why Society should keep saving your ass. What do you think?

     Also in the news.

Our Rock Star PM will be pursuing a position for the country on the United Nation's Security Council. Good. It's about bloody time. I don't remember when Canada had fallen out of favour with the UN but we need to be there to bring some temperance to the much polarized international politics. And just yesterday, an Alberta Judge really screwed the pooch by basing his conviction ruling on an outdated portion of the Criminal Code of Canada. A double homicide with no victims bodies and no murder weapons but a mountain of circumstantial evidence against the accused, and you would have to be an idiot not to connect the dots to show a conviction, and it all gets flushed. The defense appeal will be launched today. Please stay tuned.
