A Bitch from L'il Sis

07:50 hrs.
27 Nov 14

To all my 'Merican readers (that means all three of you) ...Happy Thanksgiving ! Yes, it is Thanksgiving Day south of the 49th. As you may or may not know, the You-Alls celebrate this holiday on a fixed specific day regardless of which day of the week it falls on, unlike Canadians who utilize an entire three day weekend to waddle about after our feasting. This is also the start of "U.S. of A's" holiday season, which carries on through to New Years. In some ways, I think Thanksgiving is more significant to Americans than Christmas. What do you think?

So, my L'il Sis sends me a text message about something which is stuck in her craw. It is my understanding, from what she sent, that TELUS charges residents of Alberta and British Columbia $100 more for phone than in the rest of Canada. She didn't say why there is a difference and I'm not about to embark on an investigation. It's her bitch, so she can figure it out.

Spent four hours decorating the WAYWARD INN with Christmas lights. Up and down the ladder like a bloody fireman. There may still be some tweaking required. There is a "Black Friday" sale on at Crappy Tire so I may just nip down and pick up a few more strings of lights. Not planning on out doing the Griswolds but one simple string won't keep the BETTER HALF happy either.

Will wonders never cease? Last night before going off to my meeting I mentioned to Loin Fruit #1 that tomorrow was.....Thursday and Thursday is.....garbage day with every second Thursday being.....recycling day. Many months ago I had said to him that it would be beneficial if he was to gather up the garbage and or the recycling and place it curbside before it gets dark out. So, when I returned from my meeting I found none of it on the curb. My response was measured to say the least.

"I need to have the trash out by 08:00 hrs. tomorrow. Otherwise I will have to pay for a dump run."

     "Yes, Dad."

This morning at 08:20 hrs. I heard the sound of the garbage trucks rumbling through the neighbourhood. I glanced outside the Wayward Inn and there on the curb were the garbage and recycling bins. I don't know when my #1 Son took everything out and it doesn't really matter. But it would seem that he did feel that he had to fulfill his obligation and for that I am proud of him.

On Tuesday I spotted these two eagles while I was on patrol down at the Spit. I don't know what they were feeding on but the crows and gulls were waiting in line to clean up the scraps.

Someone had sent this to me on my phone. I know it sounds funny but as an ex-service person I know that this is all too true. Do you remember when Yugoslavia broke up and the "Mericans sent their troops into aid in the peace process? We, Canadians, also had troops in Bosnia and the surrounding area. But, I remember distinctly when it all started the US news media all had to have a map of the world to show the public where their troops were being sent. Do you think in the U.S. the Average Working Joe knew where Korea or Viet Nam or Somalia was before any troops were sent in? I doubt it.
