On a Cold Clear Night you can see The Wrecks

Holy crap was it windy last night. Did you hear it? I swear that people living in places that had no wind could hear the winds ripping through the Valley. Of couse having the tarp on the mobile WAYWARD INN flapping outside my window did not aid my beauty rest in the least.
We have interesting colloquialisms (for all you Off Islanders this means funny ways to say things) here at the WAYWARD INN. The one that strikes me the most is the word - owly. It means - to be in a bad mood, put off, slightly grumpy. So if someone in the household is non-communicative and curt with others you can say that he is being owly. It can also describe a specific area that has caused or could cause this condition by simply adding the reasons to the word owly. Someone who didn't get enough sleep and looks like they "woke up on the wrong side of the bed" could be described as being "lack-of-sleep-owly". The word owly is fun and you can add it to anything. Anything the at someone gets pissed at having to do..shovelling snow (which happens twice a year here in the Valley) becomes shovelling snow-owly. Or if its just snow in general that you dislike you would be simply snow-owly. Rain-owly or taking-out-the-trash-owly. Whatever it is that has someone in a slightly foul mood can be described as being owly.
I just checked the the temperature. Holy Crap! It's -2C outside. Loin Fruit #1 might have to where his long johns when goes to do some Venture thing. I know that -2C is still considered T shirt weather out on the Lone Prairie and I, myself, on a day like today would often be wearing only my flight jacket back in the 'Peg.
I don't know what the time frame for the new hospital is, late 2017 I believe, but it is costing $330 million and will have 153 beds. You can find more details on both this and the one being built in Campbell River at the following website: www.nihp.viha.ca/. What I do know is that the location in the Valley will increase traffic congestion in an already heavily congested area and I don't think they even considered parking. Another addition to this part of town is a second firehall with a joined fire training facility. Once again, more traffic in an already congested area. And why does Courtenay need a fire training centre when Comox has one? Would building their own be cheaper than paying for the use of the one in Comox? It is these unnecessary replications that points more to the need to amalgamate the three main population centres into one. Of course, there is huge opposition from Comox and the Wild Wild West to join in the fray. Realistically though Comox and Courtenay should unite. I don't know if anyone has crunched the numbers yet but I would think that the almalgamation would lower the taxation for the individual homeowner (which is a good thing) and reduce the size of the administration (two sets of town councils reset to one). Yes, some people may be put out to pasture but maybe its time for them to go. Have you stopped into one of these two city halls? Holy Crap are they Administation-Owly!

Yes, it is a clear, cold and windy day here in the Valley.  A Prairie person would rather enjoy a day like this and with the wind being so strong I'm sure that there will be some whack-a-doos wearing wet suits and kite surfing down at the Spit. Its fun to watch but a wee bit nutso for this guy.

My BETTER HALF has completed another Ladies Movie Night and from the peals of laughter everyone had a great time. I, sans Couch Monkeys, watched Noah - starring Russel Crowe. Excellent movie. I am sure that you will enjoy it too.
Tomorrow is the 102nd Grey Cup and my money is on Calgary.
