A Day at the Track

21:54 hrs.

I was up early this AM. I been having some troubling work issues of late. Not troubling of me but for me. Some people just never learn and so its my job to show them the error of their ways.

At the end of the day I came home to the WAYWARD INN to complete making the evening meal. We were having beet leaves and dough. Another great peasant dish if ever there was one. You take bread dough. Cut it into little balls which you roĺl out into little sausages. Take a strip of wilted beet leaf, wrap it around your little dough sausage and the place it into a buttered baking pan. Bake off the bread and just before its done add some globs of butter and some heavy cream. Sounds weird but they are amazing.

After supper my BETTER HALF informed me that she was meeting with friends to walk laps at the Vanier Track. It was an invite that I couldn't refuse. The ladies would walk and talk while I would stride along to my MP3. Surprisingly,  Loin Fruit #1 was tagging along too and the reason was soon apparent because Ivan and his mom were also coming to the track. I don't know how many laps of the 400 meter track I completed but I was averaging about six minutes a lap and I walked for forty-five minutes. You can do the math.

The kicker came when everyone was getting back into their vehicles and Ivan piles into ours.

"Oh, didn't I tell you? He's sleeping over!"

"No sugar plum, you didn't! "

What was supposed to be our last night with our Actor house guest, who had no sleep from the night before when he and Loin Fruit #2 tented with some girls in a back yard, has now been spun up into an evening of let's play video games and be loud all night long.

What pissed me off the most was I was not informed until the last moment. I did not have to be asked if it was okay for this to take place. Our kids buddies are good kids too. I just would have liked the time to mentally prepare myself for the cacophony of noise.

This morning, at about 0215 hrs, I awoke to go to the washroom and discovered a light still on up in the bonus room. So I slipped on my robe and crept upstairs. Low and behold there's Ivan playing with the components to a board game. Sure he's nice and quiet but he's still awake.

"Get to sleep", I growled. There was no light on when I started tapping this out. Hopefully he got some rest.

Even better, I went to have some breakfast and the front fucking door wad wide bloody open.

     WTF! WTF!!

I don't bloody well believe this one. When I went to bed at a half descent hour because I had to work I double checked all doors. Security of your premises, right? My BETTER HALF did yhe same thong and that was after I did it. So the damn doors were locked.

Did some house guest get pissed off at me and decide to leave? Possible. A quick check revealed that everyone was were they were supposed to be so that wasn't it. Then it hit me.

Our house guest, the Actor, had been so frickin tired at supper that his looked like a cast member of the Walking Dead. Eyes glazed,  blank look, shovelling food onto his pie hole. Well instead of going to sleep after supper he joins the other Couch Monkeys to do some video gaming. His body had just been refilled with nutrition but his brain was not engaged. So, when he finally did go to bed at Oh Dark 30 he staggers down the hall opens the door to his room except its the front door, closes the door but doesn't ensure that it is in fact closed and frickin locked before turning to the left and stumbling into his room.

     Am I ranting yet?

What really wanted to do was wake everyone up and have them go look for the cat, which had been wondering the neighbourhood for who knows how long? But, as my BETTER HALF said, He's a cat and he'll come home. We we just lucky thst no one came inside to injure, maim or rob us blind.

When I went to get into my work truck there he was on the front step. Who knows where he came from so I unlocked the front door, punted his fuzzy orange ass inside and the closed and locked the door behind me. On my return from work both the Actor and Ivan were still at the WAYWARD INN. The Orange One was in but no one could find his Sister.

Great, we lost the other one!
