People have to be ready for all sorts of stuff. Changes in the weather, a household crisis or even a roadside emergencies (just to name a few) are the sorts of things that everyone should be able to adapt and overcome. Everyone who lives on the LEFT COAST knows that the big shakes going to happen one of these days. If you don't have the ability to house and feed yourself (and your family) for three days (minimum) then you are going to be on serious trouble.
Do you know first aid? Do you have a first aid kit? Is there one in your car?
Did you know that all German motorists must have a valid first aid certificate? If it runs out their drivers licence is no longer valid either. The must also carry a first aid kit in their car AND failure to render assistance at the scene of an accident is a criminal act. Sounds like something we should enact here in Canada.
I work a shift schedule and even though technically my partners shift is not over until midnight our handover is done in the afternoon of his last day on shift. This makes the responsability of any emergency call outs mine and I have to be prepared for it.
Be prepared. That is the Scout Motto. Ask my eldest son. His room may look as if a small tactical device had detonated in there but if he had to pack for a camp either winter or summer it wouldn't take him long. The problem lays in that he has to pack. When I was OUT IN THE WEEDS we discussed this notion of preparedness. It was Jake Youngblood who once again impressed the shit out of me. Sure, I used to have a Go Bag when I was still in the Service but I don't have one any more, outside of my family's emergency kit.
Why not? The need is still there on an individual basis and to augment the family kit.
I will have to build a new one.
