Wow! The First of August. Summer is just zipping by. It was noted on Facebook by my Loin Fruit #1 that he has only twenty days until his braces come off. This was followed by my Better Half commenting on her FB page that we still have seven more months of payments on the braces which prompted yours truly to post the fact that there was only 35 days until the Couch Monkeys went back to school. Of course this will only take place if the BCTF is back to work.
If you have done any driving in the Valley you will have noted the number of large building projects progressing around town. In the Ryan and Lerwick area commercial construction has been on going for several months and just down the road, on Veteran's Way, the foundation hole for the new hospital is getting larger each day.
There is more construction taking place on a smaller scale all over the Valley. Individual houses and new subdivisions. One location is out on Cumberland Road before you hit the Parkway. There used to be an urban dump site and now a new cul-de-sac is ready for houses. When they built it the developer also put in a new section of sidewalk along Cumberland Road.
There are some big changes happening at 19 Wing CFB Comox. Today there will be a CHANGE OF COMMAND at 442 Search and Rescue Squadron. Next week there will also be a CHANGE OF COMMAND for the Health Services Unit and for the Wing Commander. For those whom I know who are moving on I wish you all the best for the future.
Something to be keeping an eye on is the ongoing reports of the wages being reportedly paid to First Nations Chiefs. It has been legislated that all First Nations Chiefs, and I believe all paid Band Council members, must publicly report their salary. One revelation is the Chief of the Coquitlam First Natioon, with 81 members in the Band of which 35 live on the Reserve, was receiving nearly one million dollars in salary.
How much is your Band CHIEF bring paid?
